The Chesapeake Area Biological Safety Association (ChABSA), is an incorporated, non-profit organization that is an affiliate of the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA). ChABSA was established in 1987 by local area members of ABSA with a similar interest in the safety of research using microorganisms and recombinant DNA.

Dr. Nerad has been employed at OSHA for over 11 years.  In the last six years, Dr. Nerad has been the lead on a project to develop a standard to protect workers from occupational exposure to infectious diseases when they are engaged in: 1) The provision of healthcare services; 2) The provision of healthcare support services; 3) Handling of contaminated materials; 4) Handling of human remains; and 5) Biomedical laboratory operations.  As the team leader for this project, he was responsible for coordinating and overseeing the activities of a large and diverse team of individuals from different offices within the Directorate of Standards and Guidance. While at OSHA, he also developed the Laboratory Safety Guidance booklet and numerous other guidance documents.


If you cannot make it to Columbia the seminar may also be viewed at our remote location in Manassas, Virginia. The Manassas location will provide appetizers and desserts.  Please bring your own dinner and drink to network with other biosafety professionals starting at 6:00pm.
